Lederberg/Wombat State Forest Reccy Trip – Trip Leader : Merrick Young
As I’ve never been to the area I’m posting this reccy trip if people are interested. It will be exploring tracks and campsites around the Lederberg and Wombat State Forests. Not looking to do anything serious, just investigate and have a nice fireside camp.
Looking on Google and Youtube it does seem to get quite muddy after rain. Be prepared for ruts, mud and driving up and down slopes.
Meeting Point– Gisbourne Bakehouse at 9:30AM
Terrain
–Track Classification Guidelines – Planed difficulty [ Medium]
– Planed Terrains [ Rocks, Mud, Ruts, Occasionally Steep Inline and Declines, River crossings]
Minimum Requirements– A UHF radio, either handheld or vehicle mounted.- Your own recovery gear, consisting of at least a rated snatch strap and two rated shackles (soft or hard).- At least one rated recovery point on the front and back of your vehicle. A first Aid Kit
Recommendations– A Snake Bite kit, PLB and Snorkel on your vehicle.
Camping – [ Overnight Trackside Camp]
– Camper trailers welcome however be prepared to navigate unknown and possibly steep terrain. I recommend swags and tents for sleeping in.
